Why Feisty?

What is Feisty Records? It’s a label, no doubt, but what else could it be? I’ve lived in this town for 20 years—Nashville, TN. Bought my first electric guitar here. Saw Bill Monroe at the Grand Ole Opry in 1987. “Music City, USA’s gotta be the place for me,” is what Paul K wrote about it. But I came here to live for all the wrong reasons, and it ended in heartache and ruin. So seven years ago, I started putting myself together and polishing up my act, and there ain’t no stopping us now!

2020 was a transformative year for us wee humans. Like many people, I found myself with a lot of time at home to reassess my life and the things that mattered to me. The answer always comes back to music. Listening to music, making music, learning about music, helping people with their music…

and so Feisty Records was born. A label wherein artists have an equitable stake and can pursue their craft and release it to the world. I’ve come to it with two founding principles in mind: Equitable distribution deals for artists across all digital platforms, and Classic Sounds for Classic Souls. My idea from there is to take up John Lennon’s mission when they founded Apple—to set it spinning like a top and see where it landed. And so here we are. I hope you’ll join us for the ride.
